VC INAUGURATES UNILAG HOLDINGS COMPANY BOARD



The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rahamon A. Bello, FAEng, has inaugurated the Board of the UNILAG Holdings Company Limited (Formerly Unilag Venture Limited).
The inauguration took place in the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, 10th Floor, Senate House.
The new Board, which comprises both
internal and external members drawn from the gown and town, has Mr. Mahmud Layi Alabi, an ex-Banker as its Chairman.
While inaugurating the Board, Professor Bello charged its members to live up to expectation of the University in its quest to have veritable business venture. He assured members of the Board that the University authorities would give them free hand to operate.
The Vice-Chancellor also noted that selection and composition of the Board was approved by the Governing Council of the University.
Under the new arrangement, the UNILAG Holdings is fully registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as an entity with three subsidiaries, namely, Unilag Guests House & Conference Centre Limited, Unilag Press & Bookshop Limited and the Unilag Pharmaceutical Limited.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Layi Alabi thanked the Vice-Chancellor for considering him and other members of the Board for the appointment. He assured him that the Board will live up to the expectations and objectives of University Management.
Other members of the Board include; Mrs. Evelyn Rewane-Fabyan, former member of the University Governing Council and Mr. Babatunde Dabiri, former Managing Director of Sterling Bank Plc (external members)  and two internal members, Professor Kayode Denloye, former Director of Unilag Consult and Professor Esther Adegbite of the Department of Finance of the University (internal members)
In attendance at the inauguration were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Duro Oni; Librarian, Dr Olukemi Fadehan; the Director, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mrs. Funmilayo Ahmodu and Acting MD of former UNIDEV, Mrs. Adebisi Serrano, who led  Heads of Sub-Units of the former UNIDEV to the inauguration.
